Coin trail fundraiser for CAFOD
Over the last few weeks, Ursuline Prep School, Warley, have been asking the children and families of their school to collect 20 pence pieces for their annual coin trail collection. The money raised, just over £1100, will be donated to CAFOD. They welcomed a representative from the CAFOD organisation into school who explained the importance of fundraising for these types of charities.
Children were reminded about human rights and how important they are but also how so many children do not experience equality in the same way that many do. One of the human rights that was highlighted was having the right to clean drinking water. The children were encouraged to consider their own rights and how they are extremely fortunate to have a home, shelter, warmth, and clean drinking water.
CAFOD’s incentive this year is ‘Brighten Up’, a fundraiser specifically created to ensure all children around the world have access to clean drinking water. CAFOD will use the money that the school has raised to help communities around the world survive not only emergencies, but to also ensure that vulnerable children have access to clean drinking water, shelter, warmth and someone to listen to them.
