Welsh Independent Secondary School of the Year secured best A Level results in the UK

St John’s College, Cardiff is delighted to have been recognised by The Sunday Times as the Welsh Independent Secondary School of the Year. This achievement is based on the school’s outstanding academic results and its commitment to an exciting programme of co-curricular activities where they are garnering a formidable reputation for Chess, Public Speaking, Debating and Mathematics. The school has also had a Formula One team twice making the national finals at Silverstone.

The school’s A Level achievement, 98% A* to B, is even more remarkable considering St John’s is not a highly selective school. We have also cultivated a reputation as a centre of musical excellence; our concert orchestra is well known for its varied and complex repertoire. Moreover, St John’s is the Choir School to Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral and their choristers have sung in many prestigious locations such as Paris, Madrid and Bruges, and featured in both film and television.

Emphasis on an ethos that promotes the development of the whole child, in preparation for University and careers after school, has been critical in attaining this accolade. This could not have been achieved without the support of our parents and the commitment of our pupils and wonderful staff.
