New Hall School Emulates the Tower of London Poppy Installation
Students and staff from New Hall School in Chelmsford have produced a tribute to the “Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red” poppy installation at the Tower of London.
The school’s Art and History departments have taken the lead on the project which marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The highly visible remembrance memorial has been created in the school Chapel.
Each Year 7, 8 and 9 student has contributed by producing a unique poppy made from paper, pipe cleaners and other assorted materials. Each creation has been dedicated by the students to either a relevant family member or friend, or in remembrance of the fallen.
Katherine Jeffrey, Principal of New Hall School, said: “I am very proud of our staff and students for the dedication they have shown to this project. We felt that it was important to commemorate the centenary and utilising our students’ artistic talents seemed like a wonderfully positive way to do so.”
